life is funny….

Maybe the lack of sleep and getting back into the working grove of working after an adventurious Tennessee State University 100 year homecoming had something to do with my ways as well. New job seems to ALWAYS have something new to do each day, no matter the “things to do list” I compile for myself. Then of course parenting always brings a new surprise as I am learning in the ever so great “Teen age years” my son and I are going thru. So in our lesson of responsiblity today (seems like a broken record) I found myself asking him when was he going to get it… when are you going to be responsible for your actions, your grades, ect… when I heard the Holy Spirit tap me on my shoulder and say ” sweetie Ive been trying to get you to do the same thing for years” OOOhhh the pain of my own words and how God gave them right back to me. I wrote in my journal the same words a couple of weeks ago the same theme poping up in our lives and how we dont watch for repetivitive situations that come up in our lives that can pull us down. Have to make a change (ode to MJ) but we cant do it alone. Guess I have to give the growing young man grace and mercy cause Lord knows I need it too….

Tonight I was so inspiried by the dialog with the kids (notice I didnt say inmates) at juvenile detention center that I had to share. so we talked about Jonah and how he ran from what God had for him to do. So as the story goes in Jonah 1 that Jonah tries to run from God by getting on a ship and going to another country instead of the one God tells him to go. The waves on the water were crazy and people on the boat wondered what was going on. Jonah finally has to say that all the terrible waters were for him from God. The people on the boat throw him off and up jumps a big fish to save him. So as I read that to them I asked what and who they were running from.  Of course some said the police (cant take the hood out of them) but what was amazing was one said this isnt jail this is just a temporary placement from God for us!!!! This young man when he 1st got there wouldnt even look at a bible now he is telling everyone around him about Jesus!! He also said that he was running from himself and now he understands!!! Oh the amazingness of a child getting what God has for him! 

I shared this to say this, what are you doing with your purpose in life? do you know what your purpose is? Have you asked for this to be revealed in your life? Walking in your purpose everyday may not make your rich, may not give you fame, and certainly make not make you popular but you gain peace! If you know your purpose for being on this earth make sure you are giving it your all and dont run from it! Embrace it and see how much more sense life becomes to you!!
